As some of you who know me personally may realize, I have a bit of a lisp when I speak. Though most people just chalk it up to some strange accent as the result of all the places I’ve lived, I still makes me nervous to speak. This fear stops me from doing many things I would like to do such as being the one on stage instead of the one behind it and singing (generally, I sing on pitch with a lisp or off pitch without one). People often think I’m British because, while I don’t intentionally fake an accent, I can’t say some words in an American accent (such as the name Roy) and therefore sound British when I annunciate correctly. Well, from now on I’m not going to let that stop me. I’ll hold my head high and try not to let other’s opinions effect me so much.
There are some other things that go along with improving my self-confidence. I’ll also work to improve the talents I do have and also eat right and exercise more to make sure I keep in shape. I’ve been way too lax with that lately.
So, ye. That’s it for now. Happy 2011!
p.s. Also, I need to find some new icons. most of mine are still manga related from when I used this as a manga review blog. Any suggestions?

YouTube. While it may often be used as a place for average people to make complete fools of themselves in full view of the world, YouTube also serves another purpose. It links people from all different societies, cultures, locations, and outlooks in a way that has never before been possible. I can watch videos from a college student in Sweden and a modern family from California all with the click of a mouse. People can blog about their views on world news or just post videos of their cat looking grumpy while wearing reindeer antlers. It can just be a place to go when you want to laugh at some other poor fool’s asinine antics, or it can broaden your horizons and perspectives, if you’ll let it.
I’m not saying that I don’t like the funny; believe me, I like the funny. Half of what I subscribe to is purely for my amusement. I’m just saying that maybe YouTube does serve a slightly more serious function on occasions. There are some pretty awesome things out there like the It Gats Batter Project as well as other channels that raise awareness and offer hope on various subjects.
The internet in general has made the world a smaller place, but YouTube especially. You not only get to read about other people and places, but also see them for yourself (even if it is just through a computer screen). For just a few minutes that 640X390 video player becomes a window into another world.
So, on that note, I thought I’d share some of my favorite channels with you along with a brief description of each:
http://www.youtube.com/user/tokyoco
This is a great channel about life in Tokyo for an American. This guy is absolutely hilarious!
http://www.youtube.com/user/WHATTHEBUCK
Of course I love the What The Buck Show. How can you not? It’s funny commentary on news or just whatever he wants to talk about.
http://www.youtube.com/user/markcri
An amazing how to draw manga channel from the artist of Miki Falls. It taught me how to finaly draw those difficult shojo eyes.
http://www.youtube.com/user/cassidyhale
The page of aspiring singer/songwriter Cassidy Haley. His voice is amazing and so is this songwriting. Check out his music on iTunes!
http://www.youtube.com/user/BalloonStat
I have no clue who the heck this kid is, but he’s funny…
http://www.youtube.com/user/gaysofthewe
Sometimes funny, sometimes serious, this is one of my personal favorites. Each day a different person posts a video. The title says it all.
http://www.youtube.com/user/RyanJamesYe
He has some great music videos/music video parodies that he has directed. He’s also Monday on gays of the week. Please note that he has a separate channel for his blog.
http://www.youtube.com/user/itgetsbette
The page for Dan Savage’s It Gets Better Project. It’s full of truly inspiring videos by everyone from people you’ve never heard of all the way to the most notable celebrities and the president.
http://www.youtube.com/user/oppisum?fea
And finally, I of course have to include my channel. I have very few videos worthy of note, but my favorites might be worth looking through…

So, I realize that it’s been forever since I’ve posted and that I’ve completely lost any readers I actually had. I’ve changed quite a bit, as have my interests. Therefore, this journal will as well. I may occasionally post on the manga I read, but I have little to no time for anime now. I’ll post my artwork, short stories, and general musings as well as comments on current events, media, and what little television I watch. I will review books now and again, but mostly just write from my strange view on life.
I am one of the most open minded people you will ever hear of, and I enjoy interacting with people from all walks of life, religions, races, and sexualities. If it seems that I occasionally write from the perspective of someone within the community, it’s because I am.I accept your opinions as long as you don’t try to intentionally hurt someone or bring them down. In my 16 short years I have seen the results of pain and hatred, the outcomes of violence and intolerance, and the overall lack of compassion and empathy among humans. But on the flip side, I have see great love between those considered enemies, hardened hearts soften, and love overcome the impossible.
Seeing through another’s eyes has given me a perspective that I want to share with the world, however that is only part of what this journal will be used for. I rarely have the time to type eloquent stories and articles, therefore it is much more likely that this will be used mainly as a way for me to express opinions and share beliefs that I can’t elsewhere and be the creative outlet I so desperately need while not working with school plays.
I may also post pictures of one of the many ways I express myself: Makeup. Eye makeup to be exact. I don’t think someone should wear makeup because they feel they have to to look good. I spend way too much time on just my eyes. MAC is my brand of choice (not to be confused with mac computers). In all, I’m just going to post whatever I feel like posting.
Alpacagirl probably won’t be posting with me much. She is even busier than I am and is currently fighting a mysterious medical condition that causes her to pass out randomly and her blood pressure to plummet. Though she would kill me for making such a situation of it (even though it is), please keep her in your thoughts.

I’m still alive! Maybe now that school is back in I’ll actually have time to update. Yes, I am one of the few teenagers who have more time in during the school than in the summer.

Shugo Chara!
9/10
Author: Peach-Pit
Comment: ‘Who do you want to be?’ This is the perfect heading for this manga. It’s a story about finding one’s self, but with a magical twist! How will finding three magical character Guardial eggs change Amu’s life forever? Read to find out! Fans of Gakuen Alice may like this one.
Art: 10/10 Excellent art from volume one
Story: 8/10 It’s one of the more original takes in the whole ’magical girl’ thing that I’ve seen.
Age: 13+/12+
Status: ongoing
Volumes Published: 6/9

Wolverine
7/10
Author: art by: Wilson Tortosa story by: Anthony Johnston
Comment: A new take on an old favorite! Though not Japanese, Del Rey has worked together with Marvel to publish this new version of Logan’s past. Though it’s quite a bit different than the past shown in the classic X-Men comics, I advise any fan of Wolverine to pick this one up.
Art: 8/10 Not quite sure how to rate this one. I’m still getting use to the American drawing style.
Story: 8/10
Age: 13+/13+
Status: ongoing
Volumes Published: 1/none

Megatokyo
9/10
Author: Fred Gallagher
Comment: So Megatokyo is actually a web comic. ( http://www.megatokyo.com/ ) Even though it’s online for free, I still advise that you buy the published volumes if you can find them. They include never released bonuses, author commentary, and Endgame short stories.
Art: So this art is a bit difficult to rate. In volume one I would give it a 3/10, but by volume five 10/10.
Story: 10/10
Age: none/13+
Status: ongoing
Volumes Published: 5/? (at least one)

Sorry, I have not been updating. I have been really busy lately. I have had two essays due in the last three weeks.I am updating from my iPod Touch so I don't have spell check, and alpacagirl93 has gone skiing for the weekend.
I recently bought the 20 th issue of Tsubasa. You know the economy is bad when your manga in printed on cheaper paper with a thinner cover. Del Rey has once more done a very good job with the translation. I have recently reread both Suki and Legal Drug. I am WAY too obsessed with CLAMP. *chibi alpacagirl nods her head in the background*
So I know that alpacagirl will kill me for telling this story, but I'll tell it anyhow:
Setting: The alpacagirl and I text regularly. She had been at my house the day before and started reading Gakuen Alice. I had told her that she was getting so obsessed with the manga that pretty soon she would start reading manga online. She told me no and that , unlike me, she was not impatient (I beg to differ). We regularly joke like this. The next day (this was over Christmas break) she texted me and said that she had just read onehundred and twelve chapters of Gakuen Alice online. I jokingly called her a hypocrit. She texted back that she wasn't a hypocrit but just that she had an OTAKO moment. I told her that OTAKU was the word she was looking for and that I was fairly sure that otako was closer to a type of Mexican food.
